We don’t know if King Arthur was a real person, or perhaps was based on one. But if such a person did exist he would have been a war-leader in 5th or 6th Century Britain. The people he led would have once been Roman citizens, and were now citizens of a variety of Celtic kingdoms that stretched from Penzance to Edinburgh.
The wealthy, and Christian priests, would have still spoken Latin, but everyone else spoke a form of early Welsh.
